Struggling to balance your 5-day WFO (Work From Office) grind with your fitness goals in Singapore? You’re not alone! Many Singaporeans face the same challenge of fitting gym time into their packed schedules. Let’s explore how to make it happen, even with those infamous long working hours.
SG Hustle: Current State
Singapore’s work culture often demands long hours, making it tough to prioritize personal well-being. Despite this, many Singaporeans are finding ways to incorporate fitness into their routines. Some companies even offer on-site gyms, making it more convenient. Road cycling before work? Now that’s dedication!
- Gym during lunch or after work hours are increasingly common.
It helps having a gym in your office. Worked till 5pm and gym for an hour before heading home. Also could do some light stretching during lunch hour before eating a 15min lunch at the canteen.
- Early morning workouts are another popular option, allowing individuals to start their day with a burst of energy.
Sleep early. Wake up early. Go gym before work before rush hour. Shower after gym and head to work full of endorphins and feeling fresh. Gym is personal time, it can be done.
- However, the intensity and feasibility of these routines vary greatly depending on individual energy levels and commitments.
Energy Drain: The Challenge
The biggest hurdle isn’t just time, but also energy levels after a draining workday. Many Singaporeans feel too tired to even think about hitting the gym. Balancing work, family, social life, and sleep is a constant juggling act. The fear of burnout is real, especially when trying to maintain a demanding fitness schedule.
- Finding motivation after a long day is a significant challenge for many.
Time is not the issue, it’s the amount of energy different people have. Even healthy people have largely different amounts of energy.
- Sacrificing sleep or social life can lead to other health issues in the long run.
You need to cut office hours, everything else will mean a cut in your health or social life. Your boss doesn’t care about your wellbeing, neither do the shareholders so it’s your responsibility.
